Sūrah Ad-Duḥā (سورة الضحى)
Meaning: The Morning Light
Chapter: 93
Verses: 11
Place of Revelation: Meccan
🌅 Background Context
This surah was revealed after a brief pause in revelation, during which the Prophet ﷺ faced emotional distress and public mockery from the Quraysh, who said: “Your Lord has forsaken you.”
In response, Allah revealed Ad-Duḥā to reassure His beloved Prophet ﷺ — and all believers — that He never abandons His servants.
📖 Verse-by-Verse Reflection
1. Allah’s Gentle Oath (Verses 1–2)
“By the morning light,
And the night when it settles…”
🌅 Ad-Duḥā (morning light) represents hope, clarity, and renewal.
🌌 The night symbolizes darkness, quiet, and loneliness.
🔁 Just like night is followed by morning, hardship is followed by ease. This sets the tone: your difficulty will not last forever.
2. Allah’s Love for His Prophet ﷺ (Verse 3)
“Your Lord has not forsaken you, nor has He turned away.”
💛 One of the most tender verses in the Qur’an:
-
Allah affirms: “I have not left you.”
-
He reminds the Prophet ﷺ — and us — that temporary silence does not mean abandonment.
-
This is divine reassurance, filled with love.
3. The Best is Yet to Come (Verse 4)
“And the Hereafter is better for you than the present.”
🪷 No matter what this life holds, the next is far better:
-
For the Prophet ﷺ: his mission will succeed, and Paradise awaits.
-
For us: patience in hardship is rewarded eternally.
4. Allah Will Continue to Bless You (Verse 5)
“And your Lord will give you, and you will be pleased.”
🌟 Allah promises:
-
The Prophet ﷺ will be given so much (in this life and the next),
-
That he will be truly satisfied.
💫 This verse reminds every believer that satisfaction will come — in this world or the next — from Allah’s perfect generosity.
5. Reflecting on the Past (Verses 6–8)
“Did He not find you an orphan and give you shelter?
And He found you lost and guided you,
And He found you poor and enriched you?”
🌿 Allah reminds the Prophet ﷺ of his journey:
-
He was an orphan — yet Allah protected him.
-
He had no knowledge of the message — Allah guided him.
-
He was poor — Allah provided for him.
🧠 When you're struggling, remember your blessings. Reflect on how far you’ve come — and how Allah carried you.
6. Call to Kindness (Verses 9–11)
“So do not oppress the orphan,
And do not repel the one who asks,
And proclaim the blessings of your Lord.”
🌸 Now that you’ve been shown mercy:
-
Show it to others — especially the vulnerable.
-
Share what you’ve been given — whether it’s wealth, time, or knowledge.
-
Speak about Allah’s blessings — with gratitude and humility.
